Cherries: Bignall returns to Reading

STRIKER Nicholas Bignall has returned to Reading following the end of his loan spell with Cherries. The 20-year-old was restricted by nagging injuries to just five appearances during his two-month stay at Dean Court. Bignall started the League One clashes against Walsall, Leyton Orient and Hartlepool, and also came on as a substitute against Yeovil and MK Dons. Cherries boss Eddie Howe told the Daily Echo: "Nicholas was unfortunate to have a couple of niggling injuries which meant he was unavailable for a few games and the lads have done so well that it was difficult to change it. "He came here to play and, unfortunately, in the end, we couldn't give him the game-time that he wanted. But we are very thankful to Reading for all their help and thankful to Nicholas for his efforts during his two months with us." Howe said he had no immediate plans to bring in a replacement, although he did admit the striking department was the "one area we are looking at". Cherries defender Mitchell Nelson has extended his loan spell with Conference outfit Eastbourne Borough for a third and final month. Meanwhile, Rhoys Wiggins, who missed Saturday's 3-0 win over Plymouth Argyle due to an eye infection, should be in contention to return against Colchester on Friday. Boss Howe said: "Rhoys got something in his eye and it ended up closing up. He needed to go to Accident & Emergency to try to get it cleaned out. A couple of drops made a big difference but his vision was still a little impaired and we couldn't risk him for the game. We're hoping he will be okay for Friday."
