Clegg points to Jewell record

Ipswich chief executive Simon Clegg believes Paul Jewell's history of promotion made him the number one candidate to replace Roy Keane at Portman Road. Jewell has signed a two-and-a-half year deal and has been tasked with repeating his feat of steering Bradford and Wigan into the top flight. Evans said: "The last few days have been long and eventful and we have spoken to a number of people interested in the job. "However the owner Marcus Evans and I were sure that Paul's track record - including being one of only three managers to achieve promotion to the Premier League with two different clubs - means he is the right man for the job. "We as a club need to look forwards and we will fully support him in achieving his objectives."
