Kenny Dalglish; the return of the King to Liverpool FC

PLAYERS and managers come and go at Anfield. Some are taken to Liverpool FC's heart, others leave little more than a passing imprint on the club. But there are those whose legend will forever remain embedded within L4 for decades to come.Almost certainly, the man who enjoys the most unbridled affection among Reds is Kenny Dalglish. The Kop quickly fell in love with the man who was set to be nicknamed 'The King' after he joined the Reds from Celtic in 1977 as a direct replacement for Kevin Keegan. There had been brief doubts over whether Dalglish had the potential to replace that Anfield great after his exit to German side Hamburg. But the Liverpool faithful need not have worried as he topped the scoring charts in the league that season, climaxing with a wonderful chipped finish to clinch the European Cup at Wembley against Bruges in 1978.
