Grounds unlikely to extend Hibs loan deal

Boro full back set to return south. Hibs boss Colin Calderwood looks set to lose on loan Middlesbrough full back Jonathan Grounds. The 22-year-old defender has been on loan at Easter Road since the summer, and Calderwood seems keen to keep him until the end of the season. Calderwood said: "I have spoken to Tony about it but we're still not at that date that we have to make a decision. I spoke to him last week and we'll make contact again in the coming week."Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray seems to have other ideas though, the ex Hibs gaffer said: "As things stand, though, I think he's likely to be coming back soon." Grounds loan at the Hibees ends on January 29th, and despite a promising start, hasn’t really produced the goods in the SPL. His departure would also free up more funds for Calderwood to bolster his squad during the January transfer window.
