Hessenthaler hails five-star Gills

Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler was understandably ecstatic following his side's 5-1 demolition of Stockport. Strikes from Cody McDonald and Andy Barcham put the visitors two goals to the good before the former notched his side's third. Ishmel Demontagnac pulled one back for the managerless Hatters but it was mere consolation and Curtis Weston restored Gillingham's three-goal cushion before McDonald claimed his hat-trick to seal the rout. Hessenthaler said: "We had to change our way of playing a little bit, with Cody up top and introducing Barcham, and in the end it worked very well for us. "The key for us was the second goal because we started the second half sloppily. We didn't really get going and scored on the counter-attack to be fair and then we just went on from there. "We're delighted but we are disappointed we gave a goal away. A nice performance, another away win and six wins out of seven. You can't ask any more of the boys."
