Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson rules out David Beckham return

No deal: United won't re-sign BeckhamSir Alex Ferguson has ended David Beckham's hopes of a dramatic return to Manchester United because he believes the 35-year-old Old Trafford legend is too old. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has also ruled out a move for Beckham, who is looking to join a European club on loan from LA Galaxy to be fit for the start of the Major League Soccer season in March and in the hope of an England recall. Beckham went out on loan to AC Milan for the last two winters and trained with Arsenal each time. But the England midfielder has said he would find it hard to play for any Premier League club other than United. Asked yesterday about re-signing Beckham, Ferguson said: 'I don'tthink so with David at his age. I've never signed a player as old asthat, have I?' United actually signed Laurent Blanc at 35, while striker Henrik Larsson was 35 and goalkeeper Andy Goram 36 when they joined on loan. But Ferguson clearly feels age would be a big disadvantage in the wide midfield role Beckham would have to play. Wenger said: 'Of course I would consider signing David Beckham but it's in an area where we do not need players.'  Beckham loan deal hopes in doubt as Galaxy insist he's due back next monthAnd the winner of Worst Awards Show of the Year is.
