Striker Victor Anichebe urged to stay at Everton by manager David Moyes

Everton manager David Moyes has urged Victor Anichebe to accept the club's offer of a three-year contract. The Nigeria striker, who has six months left on his current deal, rebuffed lucrative new terms earlier this month. Offer: Everton's Victor Anichebe 'Victor is a handful when he is at his best,' said Moyes. 'If he starts to believe a little bit more, he could become a really good player. This is the right place for him, and we can get something sorted. Deep down, I think he realises this is the best place for him.' Moyes will recall Mikel Arteta after a threegame ban for the Boxing Day clash with Birmingham City, but he wants to see the Spanish midfielder justify becoming the highest paid player in the club's history with a £75,000-per-week five-year contract. His form since signing has left Moyes mystified. 'Mikel has had more expectations on his shoulders,' said Moyes. 'I'm hoping during the second half of the season he'll return to what we know he is about.'  It's top secret!
