Sunderland are planning a raid on Manchester City in the January transfer window, with Adam Johnson and Nedum Onuoha their intended targets. (Daily Mail)
Johnson has struggled to hold down a regular first team spot at Eastlands, and Sunderland boss Steve Bruce wants the England midfielder to join his in-form side.
Sunderland came close to signing Johnson a year ago, before City swooped in and made a more lucrative offer to Middlesbrough.
Onuoha is already on loan at Sunderland, where he has helped make Bruce's side a defensive force to be reckoned with. He's valued at around £6 million and Sunderland want him on a permanent deal.
