Moyes hails resilience

Everton boss David Moyes paid tribute to his side after they prevented Manchester City going top of the Premier League by winning 2-1 at Eastlands. The Toffees surged into a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes through Tim Cahill and Leighton Baines, but they had to survive the last 30 minutes with 10 men following Victor Anichebe`s red card. A Phil Jagielka own goal gave City hope, but Everton held on. "The resilience and competitiveness of the team were excellent," Moyes said. "When we went down to 10 men I thought the evening was going to become even longer but we did a great job. "They were resilient and stuck to their task. It was the art of defending; blocking shots, getting in the way of things. And the goalkeeper did well, making some terrific saves."
