Sam Allardyce sacked as Blackburn boss by new Indian owners

Blackburn's new Indian owners were facing a dressing-room rebellion last night after manager Sam Allardyce was sacked after less than two years in charge at Ewood Park.Captain Ryan Nelsen spoke out on behalf of Blackburn's stunned players following the decision by the Venky's Group to make Allardyce the Premier League's second managerial casualty in a week following Chris Hughton's departure from Newcastle.Hughton was installed as the bookies' favourite to succeed Allardyce, with Sven Goran Eriksson and former Rovers striker Alan Shearer also in the frame along with ex-Tottenham boss Martin Jol, who is keen to return to English football after quitting his job at Ajax.
