Newcastle may have secured a key victory after a tumultuous week but Alan Pardew was not happy with the performance and the players' jury is still out on the new manager. But Chris Hughton's replacement was not concerned by a frosty reception from the Toon army and insisted the whole club had supported him through his first couple of days.Pardew said: 'There were a lot of things I didn't like. We will be working on some stuff that I would like to see in the team. Let me make a point: Pardew has been quick to find fault with his team's display'I am pleased with the result I'm afraid (rather than the players' reaction) because that is the business we are in.'It is difficult I don't care who you are walking into an environment as big as this with this sort of following.'There is a lot of pressure on myself and they [players and staff] made it easy for me.'I thought the crowd's reception was OK. It was negative, I am not going to hide from that, but I understood that.'They don't know me very well and I need to earn that trust and get that belief from the fans that I am doing the right thing.'One of last night's scorers, Joey Barton, made it clear that Pardew still has work to do to get the team and crowd on his side.'It's more about the lads and what we do,' the midfielder said when asked how impressed he had been with the manager.'We spoke about it before the game. All the stuff going on around the club, the fans showing their discontent.'The most important people at the club are the players and we have shown that and how together we are.'On the back of a topsy-turvy week, which is being kind to it, we have turned in a magnificent display. The king is dead, long live the king.'
