I'm not a dirty player, insists United midfielder Darren Fletcher

Darren Fletcher has finally hit back at Arsene Wenger's claim that he is 'anti-football'. The Manchester United midfielder, criticised by the Arsenal managerfor the number of fouls he committed, has defended himself ahead oftomorrow's game against Wenger's side. Cruch time: Darren Fletcher steams in on Arsenal's Andrey Arshavin last season 'I am not a dirty player,' said Fletcher, who felt the attack made him a target for referees. 'I go to win the ball and sometimes you give away fouls doing that. But it's not malicious or dirty and it's all part of the British game. The referees here use a lot of common sense and they know when players are genuinely trying to win the ball and those going in to hurt people.' Fletcher will have a point to prove against Arsenal but believes there is a lot more at stake in a potential title decider. Last season, United's two defeats against Chelsea - in November and April - proved critical as Carlo Ancelotti's side took the title by a single point. 'These games can be so important,' said Fletcher. 'When you're at the top you don't want to lose any ground.' Manchester United v Arsenal: Don't lose this one, Arsene, and the title is yoursSir Alex Ferguson says Manchester United's Wayne Rooney is ready to fire against old enemy ArsenalMANCHESTER UNITED FC: All the latest news from across the webARSENAL FC: All the latest news from across the web  Explore more:People: Darren Fletcher, Carlo Ancelotti
