Steven Taylor offered another new deal at Newcastle

Newcastle have put a second contract offer on the table for Steven Taylor as they look to tie the central defender to the club. Taylor's current deal expires in the summer and he remains on the transfer list but the 24-year-old has continually claimed he wants to stay at St James' Park. The player's representatives, according to reports on Tyneside, have not responded to the second offer from the club after turning down the first. Taylor's current weekly wage is an estimated £40,000. Taylor has been on the transfer list since talks over a new deal stalled in the summer but Newcastle have not received any bids for their academy graduate. He looked to be on his way out of Newcastle last season following an alleged bust-up with team-mate Andy Carroll which left Taylor with a broken jaw. Manager Chris Hughton has always been keen to keep Taylor and the stopper impressed on his first start since January when he partnered Sol Campbell in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea.  Premier League points all that matters to Jose Enrique as Newcastle defender forgets the fancy footballChelsea striker Drogba tips Tiote to become a future Premier League star at Newcastle Newcastle boss Hughton praises ever-improving No 9 CarrollNewcastle 1 Chelsea 1: Kalou makes up for blunder but champs still shortNEWCASTLE UNITED FC
