Quakers Cup match given go-ahead

Darlington's FA Cup second round tie at home to York City today has been given the go-ahead after an inspection by the match referee. However, Quakers need the help of fans to clear snow from the pitch and surrounding areas. Club staff are currently busy clearing the pitch of more overnight snow after another three inches fell in Darlington overnight, with staff turning out from 5.30am. Referee Paul Tierney this morning made an early check at the Arena and has given today's game the thumbs up. "The pitch itself is fine," said Darlington general manager Phil Preston. "We're gradually clearing the snow and we've got half off up to now but we could desperately do with a few more pairs of hands to get the rest off in the next couple of hours. But as far as we're concerned it's all systems go! Fans who are buying tickets today are strongly advised to arrive early to avoid delays. Quakers are expecting their biggest crowd of the season at the Arena today and supporters turning up nearer kick-off face missing the start of the game.
