Plea to fans to help clear pitch

Darlington are asking fans to help clear the pitch and stadium this morning ahead of tomorrow's game against York City. The Quakers take on York in the second round of the FA Cup sponsored by E.ON at the Northern Echo Arena tomorrow (3pm kick-off). The club are confident the game will go ahead, with the help of supporters today. General manager Phil Preston said: We've had no more snow overnight but we're still busy clearing the snow from yesterday as well as the surrounding areas to make sure the stadium is safe to stage the game tomorrow. We don't know what it's going to do overnight so we're very much keeping our fingers crossed, but if we can make it safe today we're giving it its best chance. A small number of supporters have already turned up at the Arena this morning and Darlington are asking as many as possible to come and help, with tea, coffee and food provided for volunteers.
