Rovers snap up Magpies keeper

Bristol Rovers have clinched the loan signing of Newcastle United's highly-rated goalkeeper Fraser Forster. The League One club had been in the market for a new keeper and have agreed a month-long deal with Forster, who spent a spell on loan at Stockport County last season. He has yet to make his debut for Newcastle and is looking forward to the opportunity to gain further first-team experience with Rovers. "It was a great experience for me last year at Stockport and I came on a lot for that opportunity," Forster told Newcastle's official website. "Hopefully I can enjoy a similar spell at Bristol Rovers and I can't wait to get started." Forster will spend the next month at the Memorial Stadium, but it is understood he could extend his stay with Rovers until the end of the season. He is keen to play first-team football on a regular basis as he looks to boost his prospects of breaking into Stuart Pearce's England Under-21 squad.
