Liverpool FC defender Jamie Carragher tells team-mates to overcome Steven Gerrard injury

Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard in Florence 300JAMIE CARRAGHER today urged his team-mates to block out the frustration of Steven Gerrard's absence and concentrate on producing a performance to get Liverpool moving forward again. The Reds' worst fears were confirmed yesterday after a scan showed Gerrard had suffered a grade two tear of his hamstring, damage that is bad enough to keep him out for up to four weeks.Gerrard will miss a crucial run of fixtures including trips to White Hart Lane and St James' Park, plus a home date with Aston Villa, aside from tomorrow's showdown with West Ham.Having only recently labelled Gerrard as 'the best we've ever had', Carragher knows exactly what Liverpool be missing while the 30-year-old goes through his rehabilitation. However, Carragher - who will take over captaincy duties in Gerrard's absence - is experienced enough to know it doesn't pay to worry about those who can't make a difference. That is why he is hoping for a performance which will get everyone talking about Liverpool for the right reasons again and revive memories of the last time their talisman was missing.'There is no doubt Steven will be missed whether we win, lose or draw because he is such an important player here,' said Carragher.'But it is up to us to perform well and lessen the impact, like when we beat Spurs (2-0) in January without him and Fernando (Torres).
