Jefferies wants to build on wins

Hearts manager Jim Jefferies is desperate to make it three wins out of three following the successes against Hibernian and Celtic. Jefferies has revelled in two 2-0 SPL League victories this week but still has the recent 3-0 loss at home to Kilmarnock on his mind.Jefferies is therefore wary of complacency against St Johnstone, a side who have lost their last four in all competitions, conceding 13 in the process."Results wise and some of the performances, it certainly has been a good week, but we want to finish it off," said Jefferies."The week's not complete yet until we play on Saturday, so it would be nice if we can follow it up with a performance."That's what we've got to guard against, because we've won two tough, important matches, thinking everything is just going to be a formality on Saturday."This game's got a habit and you can't take anything for granted."We've got to do what we did in the two games and hopefully it will be good enough and it will finish off a great week."It has been a good week for Hearts off the pitch too, with £10million worth of debt wiped out in a debt for equity scheme arranged by Hearts majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov.Jefferies was also given the added boost by confirmation of Marius Zaliukas' contract extension, the Lithuania international defender and Hearts captain signing a three-year deal to stay at Tynecastle following a long contract impasse.Jefferies added: "It was all tied up yesterday, but it had all been agreed verbally."It was just a case of no last-minute hitches and I'm really pleased that it's gone through because he is the captain and he is an important player for us - he's been outstanding."Kevin Kyle earned a call up to Craig Levein's Scotland squad for next week's friendly with the Faroe Islands and Jefferies has been pleased with the striker's contribution after a couple of lacklustre displays."He wouldn't have got it on the performances against Kilmarnock and St Mirren," said Jefferies."We had a chat about that and the big man responded great."Craig was at the Hibs game, watched him, and if he's looking for that type of player, Kevin's up there - he must be a nightmare to play against if he puts himself about like he has done in the last couple of games."There was positive news on Lee Wallace and Andrew Driver, currently out with knee and thigh injuries, respectively - the duo are poised to resume full training in two to three weeks time. But the good news was tempered with the announcement that winger Suso Santana will undergo a knee operation. The 25-year-old Spaniard was a substitute in Hearts' two wins this week, but was required for only three minutes in Wednesday's victory over the Bhoys at Tynecastle due to the scintillating form of David Templeton.Santana has been troubled by the niggling problem for a number of weeks and Hearts will now send him for surgery."He's had this wee cartilage problem which keeps swelling up after games," said Jefferies."He'll get it done tomorrow morning because it will just get worse."Saints have called a precautionary pitch inspection for 9am for Saturday morning, with doubts over the McDiarmid Park surface due to recent heavy rain.
