Gyan settling well in England

Sunderland's record signing Asamoah Gyan feels he is acclimatising well to life in England after being eased in gently by Steve Bruce. The Black Cats broke their transfer record to land the Ghana international, keen for him to provide an attacking ally for talisman Darren Bent.Steve Bruce has opted to use his £13million man sparingly so far, despite seeing Sunderland struggle for goals this term. His patient approach has been vindicated, though, as Gyan has scored three goals in his first two starts for the club. The 24-year-old accepts that he needed time to adjust to the hustle and bustle of the Premier League but, having found the target in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Tottenham, he believes he is now ready to justify his hefty price tag and further his blossoming reputation."It has been a strange start for me here, but I am looking to do big things here," Gyan told skysports.com."I arrived here with a lack of physical strength, I was not fit."This league is no joke and when you are not fit, they find you out. But I am getting there."Scoring has always been my favourite thing and I scored against Spurs. It was fantastic to come away with a point from there because they are a fantastic team at home."I am settling well here in the North East."The derby defeat (a 5-1 mauling by Newcastle) was painful and we felt it as much as the supporters. Thankfully there is a return fixture to look forward to."
