Cherries: Mitchell has no plans to add to board

CHAIRMAN Eddie Mitchell insisted he had no plans to bolster the Dean Court boardroom in the wake of Adam Murry's departure. The club now has a four-strong group of directors following Murry's decision to step down, with Mitchell, vice-chairman Jeff Mostyn, chief executive Neill Blake and Steve Sly making up the board. Mitchell described as a breath of fresh air his colleagues within the corridors of power and insisted they were working together to steer the Cherries ship into calmer waters. The Dean Court chief last month warned of tough times ahead, predicting that the run up to Christmas would provide a difficult financial test for the League One outfit. But despite admitting the club was, like any other business, finding the recession a struggle, Mitchell offered some positive news to worried supporters. Providing a financial update, he told the Echo: I think we're probably the same as every other football club and household in the country struggling to a degree but managing to pay our way as we go, which is a good thing. We're continuing to work hard to get more people over to Kings Park to help us reduce the debt. It's all going in the right direction. It's an ongoing situation but it's getting easier because we're not carrying so much baggage now. We've always got to be thinking on our toes. I don't think it's easy for anybody out there at the moment. Discussing the make-up of the Cherries board, Mitchell revealed he was not thinking of reinforcements at this stage. There aren't any plans to bring in anybody else on the board, he added. It's something which we might discuss at the next board meeting but, at this moment in time, there are no plans to bring in anybody. I'm very pleased with the board. I'd never really imag-|ined that I could work with anybody for so long I've always worked on my own to be quite honest. But I feel the people I've been working with are a breath of fresh air really and I'm as enthused as I was the day I joined them. Everything's fine and we all enjoy the success of the club and we all enjoy working together. It's all going in one direction.
