A German scores a spot-kick: 'Hopefully I can get a few more while I'm here to help the team'

QPR's teenage sensation Antonio German has dropped down two divisions to play on loan for Southend United for at least a month, and made a scoring start on his debut in the Cup! German: 'Luckily my football is 100 per cent better than my singing'You can't knock the boy's confidence; first game for a new club and still only 18, sees them go one goal down early doors, on the half hour referee points to the spot for your side, you grab the ball and smash it into the top right habd corner. Easy. Especially if you are named German!Antonio told www.echo-news.co.uk: "Any kind of goal is always good for your confidence and hopefully I can get a few more while I'm here to help the team. Playing games will be good for my fitness too so I'm looking forward to all the matches we have coming up because it's quite a busy time for us." Sadly the same can't be said for his singing as his spot-kick accuracy, as he was forced to take part in the teams solo singing spot before the game, a trail forced upon all the players before their first match. Not sure how the other debutant loanee did, Oxford United striker Jack Midford!Antonio explained: "Luckily my football is 100 per cent better than my singing. I didn't know anything about it until just before I had to get up and do it. I tried to play it safe by doing a bit of R Kelly but it wasn't the best. Thankfully the match went much better for me and I was really pleased to get the goal." Mate, so are we, and though he obviously tired to force the second half substitutions that changed the First Round tie, the Shrimpers drawing 2-2 with the Silkmen, he showed enough to convince the travelling faithful that he should get the half-a-dozen starts his manager Niel Warnock is looking for.Warnock said on Friday: "There were a number of clubs interested in Antonio. A couple from the Championship and one or two from League One too. But I want him to get some serious game-time under his belt and he'll get that at Southend. He will play five or six games for them and that will stand him in really good stead."
