Jenas: I thought I was going

Jermaine Jenas has admitted Tottenham's failed pursuit of Scott Parker has enabled him to revive his White Hart Lane career. Harry Redknapp launched a £12million bid for the Hammer's captain over the summer but was thwarted in his efforts. Had he succeeded, Jenas would have been out, but having been dumped in the reserves just three weeks ago, he has battled back to earn a place in the starting XI. "I didn't know whether I was coming or going at one stage. It was only a few weeks ago that I was playing against QPR in the reserves, but I've kicked on from there," he told the News of the World. "I knew it was going to be tough because I was not Harry's first choice at the start of the season."The club may have sold me if Scott had arrived. Now that I am in the side I want to stay in there, especially for nights like the San Siro."The challenge is now for the England international to retain his place in the side, and its one he's ready to accept. "I don't let speculation affect me; I just focus on my day-to-day work. Thankfully it seems to have worked out. Now we have Manchester United and Inter at home."
