Martin Riley played just over an hour for Cheltenham`s reserve team on Tuesday afternoon as he steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury.
The defender put in a good shift before being withdrawn in the 62nd minute as the Robins went down to a 2-0 friendly defeat to West Brom`s second string at Whaddon Road.
His involvement will have no doubt pleased manager Mark Yates who was watching from the stands.
Riley started four of Cheltenham`s opening five games of the season before aggravating the niggling hamstring problem during August`s 2-1 win over Burton, subsequently ruling him out for eight weeks.
Kyle Haynes captained Town`s reserve side which also included the likes of JJ Melligan, Theo Lewis, Robin Shroot and Shaun Jeffers.
