Jermaine Johnson was forced to put his playing comeback at Sheffield Wednesday on hold last week due to "personal matters" in America.
The Jamaica international returned from a long-term knee injury in the recent win at Yeovil, stepping off the bench for his first appearance of the season and scoring the Owls' first goal in a 2-0 win.
But Johnson, expected to start on Saturday, was not included in manager Alan Irvine's squad for the 1-1 home draw with Bournemouth.
Irvine said: "On Thursday night I got a phone call from Jermaine, saying he had a personal matter to attend to in America and that's where he is. He could have started."
