Toffees keeper sweet on Donovan

Goalkeeper Tim Howard has given his approval to the possibility of countryman Landon Donovan returning to Everton in the New Year. The USA skipper has publicly admitted he could rejoin the Merseysiders in the January transfer window after enjoying a successful loan spell with the Premier League side last season. The LA Galaxy midfielder made 10 league appearances for the Goodison Park club, scoring two goals, and was named as the fans' player of the month for January. And international team-mate Howard believes Everton would benefit from acquiring Donovan's service once again. He told the Liverpool Echo: "It was one of those weird situations where it seemed to work for everyone, which is not always the case with business and football."The manager got a fantastic player, the fans loved him, he played well, and MLS and Galaxy didn't lose a whole lot."It was off season and he got a chance to play at a high level. I don't see why it can't happen again this year. We enjoyed it and so did he."Donovan's has hinted the idea of going on loan again to Everton in January would be hard to resist. The 28-year-old said: "It would be hard to say no. I really hope that, if it's not this year, I get to go back there and play again."But if you asked me now I would lean towards a little more uncertainty. It's hard for me to say as I've had a really long year. But we'll see after a few week's rest and we'll see how it goes."But Donovan admits a lack of rest during the Major League Soccer close season could prove a stumbling block."Last time when David Moyes called I was extremely excited about it and I just have to make sure that I get the appropriate rest," he said."When I was there I felt loved and accepted and I think they appreciate the way I play."
