Redknapp delight at Crouch capture

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp expressed his delight at being reunited with England striker Peter Crouch on Tuesday, but said Darren Bent could soon be off to Sunderland. Crouch, 28, completed his move from Redknapp's former club Portsmouth on Monday, too late to join Tottenham on their trip to China for the English Premier League's Asia Trophy tournament. "He has had a medical and everything was fine," Redknapp told reporters at a news conference in the Chinese capital. "We now have four strikers as it looks like Darren Bent could move. I believe he is close to doing a deal with Sunderland." Redknapp said Crouch, who stands over 2 metres tall, would give his side a different option. "He is different to almost anyone else in the league in terms of his size and the way he plays the game so I am pleased to have him. With him, Robbie (Keane) Jermain Defoe and (Roman) Pavlyuchenko we have a good strike-force." Sunderland were also keen on signing Crouch but having lost out to Tottenham look to have turned their attentions to Bent, who finished last season as the London club's top scorer with 17 goals. TOUGH SCHEDULE Tottenham kick off the Asia Trophy with a match against West Ham United at Beijing's Worker's Stadium on Wednesday and, despite only finishing a similar pre-season tournament on Sunday, Redknapp said his side were not in town to make up the numbers. "We've had a tough weekend playing two games at Wembley against Barcelona and Celtic. This is the schedule we have been given, so we've arrived later," Redknapp said. "When you come all this way to play football, you want to win. We played in this tournament two years ago with Portsmouth and won it and got off to a great start to the season. "Hopefully we can do the same thing with Tottenham, we're here . to do our very best to win the cup." Hull City face Beijing Guoan in Wednesday's other match with the winners playing winners and losers taking on losers in Friday's second round of matches. Hull are reportedly interested in signing Spurs' defender Alan Hutton but Redknapp said he had not heard from them about the Scottish fullback.
