The England Under-21 midfielder has been linked with a move away from St Mary`s following the club`s relegation to League One, but he is adamant he will not be joining the list of players who have already left the south-coast outfit.
Speaking after he grabbed the opening goal in Saints` 3-0 triumph over Scottish outfit Hearts, he told the club`s official website: "I`m 100% committed to Southampton. I`ve got two years left here and I`m definitely going to be here for at least the next year and hopefully a few more."
Saints` emphatic pre-season victory at St Mary`s coincided with Alan Pardew`s first match in charge of the club, and he could not have been happier.
He said: "We`re overjoyed with that performance. We`ve still got a lot to do but in terms of what we wanted to achieve here, we`ve ticked a lot of boxes."
Grzegorz Rasiak grabbed the other two goals but, speaking about the striker`s future, Pardew added: "We`ll have to wait and see with Grzegorz`s situation, there are clubs that are interested in him and he`s done himself no harm here. I`d like to keep him but if it`s a situation where a club makes a bid that`s acceptable then he will go."
