Newcastle slumped to a 6-1 defeat to Leyton Orient, while Sven Goran Eriksson saw Notts County beat local rivals Nottingham Forest 2-1. Newcastle's pre-season preparations suffered a major blow at Brisbane Road after being hit by six by League One club Leyton Orient.Still looking for a new manager and a new owner, Orient piled the misery on the beleaguered Magpies who fielded close to a full-strength line-up.Jimmy Smith headed Orient in front after just four minutes and they doubled their lead from the penalty spot courtesy of Sean Thornton's spot-kick after Habib Beye handled the ball inside the boxJoey Barton pulled a goal back from the penalty spot just before the half hour mark after Obafemi Martins was hauled down.Orient restored their two-goal lead on 52 minutes with an acrobatic overhead kick from Scott McGleish.The home side continued to torment Newcastle with Tamika Mkandawire adding a fourth two minutes later and substitute Ryan Jarvis added a fifth on 82 minutes.Orient completed the rout three minutes from time with Harry Baker notching the sixth to leave Newcastle with a lot to think about before the new season kicks-off in two weeks' time.Notts County secured the bragging rights over neighbours Forest with a 2-1 victory at Meadow Lane in front of new Director of Football Sven Goran Eriksson.After a goalless first half Luke Rodgers gave County the lead on 55 minutes and Lee Hughes marked his debut with a second goal five minutes later.Lewis McGugan pulled a goal back for Forest, but County held on for the morale-boosting win.A youthful Sunderland XI claimed a 2-1 victory over League One side Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park.Individual mistakes cost Oldham dear as first new boy Andy Holdsworth gifted a goal to Adam Reed before team-mate Reuben Hazzell did likewise in allowing David Dowson to double the Black Cats' advantage before the break.Pawel Abbott's second half penalty proved nothing more a consolation for Oldham.Southampton proved too strong for Hearts with a 3-0 win over the SPL side at St Mary's.Adam Lallana gave Southampton a first half lead and two goals from substitute Grzegorz Rasiak made the game safe for Alan Pardew's men.Goals from Merouane Zemmama and Derek Riordan helped Hibernian to a 2-0 win over Northern Ireland outfit Glentoran at the Oval.Leicester ran out 4-0 winners over Shrewsbury at the Prostar Stadium.Goals from Jack Hobbs (10), Lloyd Dyer (19, 35) and Danny N'Guessan (27) gave Nigel Pearson's men the victory over their League Two opponents. Aberdeen were held to a 1-1 draw by Dundee in their final warm-up game before next week's Europa League clash with Sigma Olomouc.Sone Aluko gave Aberdeen the lead inside the first minute, but Eric Paton's free-kick earned Dundee a draw.West Brom came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with local rivals Walsall.Dwayne Mattis gave Walsall the lead a minute before the break and seconds later trialist Matt Richards added a superb second with a curling effort from the edge of the box.Luke Moore pulled a goal back just past the hour mark and he grabbed a leveller from the penalty spot late on.Derby proved too strong for Exeter with a 3-1 win at St James Park.Fit-again Paul Green fired the Rams in front just past the half hour makr, but Richard Logan drew the hosts level five minutes later.Substitute Steve Davies restored Derby's lead six minutes after the break and Green wrapped up the win with his second on 56 minutes.Shane Long helped himself to four goals to inspire Reading to a 4-0 win over Swedish side Tolo IF.Coventry City were held to a 0-0 draw by League One promotion hopefuls Huddersfield Town at the Galpharm Stadium.A young Birmingham XI fell to a 3-2 defeat at Football League new boys Burton Albion.Robin Shroot, on-loan at Burton from Birmingham, opened the scoring for Paul Peschisolido's side before Blues hit back courtesy of efforts from Jacob Hronec and Dan Preston before the half-time break.It was, though, Burton that came out victors as late efforts from Richard Walker and Jacques Maghoma settled matters in their favour.Sheffield United continued their preparations for the new season with a comfortable 3-0 win at League Two side Bury.Leigh Bromby gave United the lead on 29 minutes and two goals from substitute Jordon Robertson after the break rounded off the win. Doncaster strolled to a 4-0 win at near neighbours Rotherham.Goals from Sam Hird James Hayter (2) and trialist Jason Walker were enough to give Sean O'Driscoll's men a comfortable victory.Norwich were held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United XI at Carrow Road.Tom Adeyemi fired Norwich in front on 21 minutes with a stunning strike and Norwich keeper Ben Alnwick saved a penalty from Sam Hewson on his Canaries debut.Richie De Laet netted an equaliser for United five minutes from time.
