Richards ready for Blackpool trip

Manchester City defender Micah Richards has declared himself fit for his side's trip to the seaside on Sunday. The defender has been struggling with a hamstring injury that forced him to miss England's successful quest to reach the European Under-21 Championships this week. However, happily for the 22-year-old, he has now recovered and should get a chance to build on his early-season form at Bloomfield Road as second-placed City become the latest team to try to deflate Blackpool's early-season optimism. As with most visiting fans, it is sure to be a trip to remember for the Blues, although Richards admits a tour of the Tower and the Pleasure Beach is not that high on his holiday wish-list."I can't remember the last time I went for a day out to Blackpool," he told the club's official website."I've never been to the Illuminations, ever. I think I'd rather go somewhere I know is definitely going to be sunny."Richards admitted his latest knock came at a bad time given the injuries Fabio Capello's senior squad had to contend with this week.Capped 11 times by Steve McClaren, who made him the youngest defender to play for England when he faced Holland in November 2006, Richards has not made a single appearance since Capello took charge."It's a shame about having to miss the Under-21s, but they've got through to the finals without me so that's really pleasing," he said."England were also calling up players for the senior squad because of injuries, but that's just my luck - every time I seem to be doing well, I get a niggling injury that I have to shake off."
