Roy Hodgson 300A HOST of former Anfield stars have leapt to the defence of underfire Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson. The 63-year-old is under pressure after a nightmare start to his reign with the Reds picking up just six points from their opening seven Premier League games.A 2-1 home defeat at the hands of newly-promoted Blackpool means Liverpool have suffered their worst beginning to a season for 57 years and they are in the bottom three for the first time since 1984.Hodgson had to contend with boos and there were calls for Kenny Dalglish to replace him towards the end of Sunday's game. But ex-Reds keeper Ray Clemence insists talk of changing the manager is 'crazy' after just three months at the helm.Clemence has urged supporters to get behind Hodgson and give him time to prove he's the right man for the job.'No-one expected them to be where they are in the table, although everybody expected a transitional year,' he said.'It's crazy to talk about getting rid of him - they've got an excellent manager who will get things right given time and patience.'But his hands are tied and the thing is nothing can be sorted lower down until the top end of the club is sorted out.
