Boss keen to extend Gowling stay

The 25-year-old has joined from Carlisle on an initial five-week deal which takes him up to the clash with Hartlepool on August 22, but the deal is with a view to extending it if all parties agree. And Stimson said: "He's had decent league experience and has genuine pace, which always helps in a centre-half. He knows the league and hopefully we can enjoy him, he enjoys being with us and we can extend his deal at the end of the month. "He is a right-sided centre-half so that gives us him and Garry Richards that can play alongside Simon King. He'll be involved straightaway at Bishop's Stortford on Tuesday and the best player at the end of it will get the shirt. "He wants to play and hopefully that's what he'll come in and do. It's a good addition to the squad at this time of pre-season. "He'll add a bit of pace to the back line, he's an athlete with good potential and at 25 he's a good age too."
