Manchester United stars see funny side after sewage pipe burst before Sunderland clash
Manchester United's superstars refused to kick up a stink after a sewage pipe burst in their dressing room moments before the clash against Sunderland.The kick-off for yesterday's 0-0 draw at the Stadium of Light was delayed the smelly scene in just before kick-off.The incident was an unwanted distraction for United - but Old Trafford defender John O'Shea saw the funny side. I think it will have to be burned for health reasons.'It was a strange smell when we came back in from the warm-up and when we realised what happened, I think about eight or ten suits had to be burned. 'Thankfully we weren't sitting down in the dressing room when it happened.'Edwin van der Sar also saw the brighter side - but admitted unlucky kitman Albert Morgan wasn't impressed.He said: 'I just came out from my warm-up and they put us in a different room and said 'don't go in the dressing room,' said the Dutchman. 'The smell was horrendous, so a lot of lads' suits, washbags and shoes had to be thrown away. Up but down: Manchester United's Edwin van der Sar wasn't happy with a point at Sunderland 'Albert was struggling to get the shinpads cleaned and everything, but in the end we managed and I think it was a rare moment.'But the United keeper wasn't quite as jovial when discussing his side's goalless draw against Steve Bruce's side.He said: 'We were happy to go in at half-time with a nil-nil. In the last 15 minutes we had one or two chances, but not enough to get the winner. 'I don't think we put enough in our offensive game to really claim the three points. I don't think the service was sufficient to get the goal in the end.'We can be happy that we had a clean sheet, the second in a row after Valencia on Wednesday, but I think it was two dropped points today, because we dropped too many already in away games.'We were disappointed with a draw at Bolton, we got a nice win in Valencia which sets us well for the Champions League and of course today you're looking for a win to close the gap a little bit.'
