Toffees announce record turnover

Everton's successful 2008/09 campaign has seen the club announce a record turnover. The club's cash flow was close to £80milllion, up 5.3 per cent, for a season which saw them finish fifth in the Premier League and reach the FA Cup final.The figures were released at a shareholders' forum on Wednesday by chief executive Robert Elstone, with chairman Bill Kenwright and manager David Moyes also in attendance.Elstone explained that there had been a number of determining factors behind the sharp increase in the club's finances.Having seen 17 of their games broadcast live last season, television revenue rose considerably, while the club's record-breaking sponsorship deal with Chang also contributed to the success.The memorable run to the FA Cup final also saw the revenue raised from cup competitions rise from £6.8m in 2007/08 to £7.5m.Overall, commercial income was up to £7.4m from £6.7m, while match day income remained stable at slightly over £17m.The figures combined totalled £79.7m compared to £75.7m 12 months earlier.
