Cherries: Smith promises some forward thinking
NEW recruit Adam Smith is hoping to become the latest Dean Court crowd pleaser after revealing he had no hesitation in making the decision to join Cherries. Boss Eddie Howe this week swooped to bring in the Tottenham Hotspur right-back on a month's loan deal. The 19-year-old is in line to make his debut for Cherries in tomorrow's League One home clash against Carlisle, with injury doubts over defensive duo Lee Bradbury and Stephen Purches. An England youth international, Smith has previously gained experience of senior football with loan spells at Wycombe Wanderers and Torquay United last season. The London-born prospect, who progressed through the ranks at White Hart Lane before signing his first professional contract in summer 2008, is hoping to make an impression with Cherries. When asked what supporters could expect from him, the Spurs youngster said: I love to get forward. I like to think of myself as an exciting player to watch, so hopefully I will do well and please the fans. Discussing Smith, Howe added: I know he will bring an ability to get forward, and energy. As an attacking full-back goes, you won't get more attacking than Adam. In that area, we are delighted to have him on board. It's a shame that we have lost Stephen and Lee Bradbury we don't know quite how serious Bradders' injury is at the moment so bringing in Adam gives us a chance to keep the continuity and keep the same system. Smith, who played against Cherries for Torquay in the Gulls' 2-1 defeat at Dean Court in December, is hoping to benefit from his time in Dorset after admitting he didn't have to think twice about the loan switch. Bournemouth have started well this season and I have heard about Eddie that he is a good manager, he is young and seems to get the best out of players, so I thought why not, he added. I was at Wycombe for a month and then I was at Torquay for about six months. I did well at Torquay and it didn't work out at Wycombe, so I have got a bit of experience but I need a bit more. I think it is a good experience to come and play in the lower leagues because there are some good players here. When I came here, I did hear that Bournemouth play the best football, so that can only help me in my game. I feel a bit more confident coming in to play in the lower leagues because I've done it before. I'm just hoping to do well here really.
