Rangers in Vernon's sights

Aberdeen striker Scott Vernon is hoping to keep his goalscoring run going when the Dons take on Rangers this Saturday. The former Colchester United player netted a vital second-half double in the Co-operative Insurance Cup against Raith Rovers in a tense 3-2 victory to take his tally to four goals in three matches.Vernon said: "It was obviously an entertaining game and it was good to get the goals."They were important goals as the match was a big test for us. We started very poorly and we looked nervous. Luckily we turned it around in the second half and got the goals I thought we deserved."The striker is looking forward to sampling the atmosphere when Rangers visit Pittodrie on Sunday. He added: "I have based my game on scoring goals and I have found myself on a good run at the moment. Hopefully I will be out there doing it again on Sunday."A lot of the boys have spoken about the rivalry between Aberdeen and Rangers but I am new to Scottish football and still learning about it."It is going to be an experience for me and I'm sure it will be an unbelievable atmosphere. I can't wait for it to be honest."
