Sunderland defender Titus Bramble was arrested in the early hours of
Wednesday morning over the alleged rape of a woman at a Newcastle hotel.
The 29-year-old was detained along with brother Tes after a
complaint was made to Northumbria Police.
A Northumbria Police spokesman confirmed: "Police received a report
of a rape of a woman at a city centre hotel in Newcastle in the early
hours.
"Two men, aged 29 and 30, have been arrested on suspicion of rape."
The Black Cats have yet to make any comment about the incident,
which came hours after they lost 2-1 at home to West Ham in the third
round of the Carling Cup.
Bramble, a summer signing from Wigan Athletic, did not feature
against the Hammers at the Stadium of Light.
