Southend United's Paul Sturrock on a striker before Hereford, Hereford United, Hereford FC, Bulls.

Blues boss Paul Sturrock has accepted his squad could do with more striking power, it's fnding one on his small budget that's causing him problems, then again he could look to the bench. Sturrock: 'Strikers don't grow on trees'The Shrimpers manager Paul Sturrock wants another forward, though most of the Blues faithful walked away from Roots Hall and the 3-2 defeat to Morecambe believing it was the defence that needed new blood, however he's warning that it could be difficult bringing the player he wants on the budget given him by Chairman Ron Martin. Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "I'm sure everyone walked away from the game with Morecambe on Saturday saying 'we need a striker, we need a striker', but they don't just go on trees. You also look in the Conference and one team just sold a striker to another Conference club for £275,000 which is an expense we couldn't afford at this time. There used to be a bit of pinching from that level going on, but that isn't the case any more, so it is difficult."Barry Corr is the team's top scorer with three goals but Luggy continues to pick his son Blair above Matt Paterson or Scott Spencer, both arguably could do a better job and save him some dosh. With the transfer window not re-opening until January the Blues boss can only bring someone in on loan.
