Team of the Week: Berbatov continues form against Liverpool
Football.co.uk's Joe Strange takes a look back over the weekend's action to pick his best XI.
Goalkeeper - Brad Friedel, Aston Villa
A spirited performance from Bolton Wanderers at Villa Park gave the American stopper plenty to do, particularly in the second half. Friedel stood up to the task well, making a string of top saves to help earn his side a point in Kevin MacDonald's last game as caretaker boss.
Right-back - Alan Hutton, Tottenham Hotspur
One of Spurs' forgetten men, Hutton made a huge impact after coming on as a second half substitute. The Scottish international burst forward at every opportunity, winning a penalty and scoring a somewhat fortunate goal to give his side a 3-1 win. A great cameo from the former Rangers man.
Central defence - Titus Bramble, Sunderland
More used to criticism than praise, Bramble turned in an impressive display at home to Arsenal on Saturday evening. The former Newcastle man helped restrict the Gunners to very few chances, with a freak Cesc Fabregas goal being the only time the defence was breached.
Central defence - Kolo Toure, Manchester City
A clean sheet from City helped them to a much-needed victory over struggling Wigan Athletic on Sunday afternoon. Toure has established himself as a key component in Roberto Mancini's back-four and looked solid at the DW Stadium.
Left-back - Carlos Salcido, Fulham
A summer replacement for Paul Konchesky, Salcido looked confident on his first Premier League start. The Mexican international provided a perfect cross for Clint Dempsey's equaliser and also tested Paul Robinson with a curling shot of his own.
Right-midfield - Hatem Ben Arfa, Newcastle
Recruited on loan from French club Marseille, Ben Arfa was given a starting berth by manager Chris Hughton against Everton on Saturday. The pacey winger grabbed his opportunity, scoring a stunning goal to secure all three points and generally running the Blues' defence ragged.
Central-midfield - Rafael van der Vaart, Tottenham Hotspur
The Dutchman continues to show glimpses of the form which tempted Harry Redknapp to part with £8million to sign him from Real Madrid. His calm penalty against Wolves provided Spurs with a platform to win the game and his all-round performance was punctuated with moments of quality.
Central-midfield - Scott Parker, West Ham United
Without doubt West Ham's best player, Parker continues to drive his team through their tough start to the season. His simple goal was enough to earn his side a valuable point away at Stoke, but it was his energy, work-rate and desire which was more important.
Left-midfield - Florent Malouda, Chelsea
Another game and another two goals from the most improved player in the Premier League. Malouda has been in superb form so far this season, with six goals in just five games so far. The Frenchman could've easily had four or five yesterday against Blackpool.
Striker - Dimitar Berbatov, Manchester United
Widely criticised during his two years at Old Trafford, Berbatov seems to finally be finding the form which made Sir Alex Ferguson shell out £30m for his services. His memorable hat-trick to give United a 3-2 win over Liverpool on Sunday will be remembered for a very long time.
Striker - Didier Drogba, Chelsea
He might have scored just one debatable goal in Chelsea's 4-0 romp against Blackpool, but Drogba's all-round performances seem to get better and better each week. The Ivorian assisted Malouda's first goal and could've had a couple more himself.
