Bright future for Alex striker

Following a promising start, where he found the net three times in his first five games, Elding's debut season at Gresty Road last term went downhill and Thordarson loaned him out to Lincoln City shortly after his arrival in the hot seat. However, the Icelandic boss has now appointed Elding as his vice-captain and is planning to use the 27-year-old in a new role as a deep-lying forward. "Last season is in the past and we can't live in the past, although I do consider it was a personal disaster really," Elding told the Sentinel. "I've come back to Crewe and been given the vice-captain's role and it looks like I may be in a new position. Hopefully I will be a better player."
