Knight debut on hold

Leon Knight's Darlington debut will have to wait as he is still awaiting the paperwork to be completed on his signing. He agreed to join this week and travelled with the squad to Bath City with manager Mark Cooper planning on naming him on the bench today. But Quakers discovered late on Friday that Knight is unavailable for the game at Twerton Park because Rushden and Diamonds, who sacked the 28-year-old for disciplinary issues in 2008, are holding him to a clause in the contract he signed at Nene Park. Despite being unavailable, Knight has taken part in the pre-match warm-up. Cooper makes one change today from the side which beat Forest Green Rovers last weekend. Midfielder Jamie Chandler returns to the side at the expense of Joe Clarke who drops to the bench while also among the substitutes is youth team keeper Nick Thompson. Quakers are bidding to record back-to-back wins for the first time this season while Cooper's seventh-placed side could only draw in their previous away game, 1-1 at Eastbourne Borough. Second-bottom Bath who have struggled since their promotion from the Blue Square South as play-off winners. They have won only one of their eight games so far.
