Iron boss hails board of directors

The Iron have paid a reported fee of £350,000 for the 6ft 6in central defender, which could rise to £500,000 if Jones helps keep Scunthorpe in the Championship. Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "For me this is the key position that we have needed to get right. "I'm delighted that the chairman and directors have backed me on this deal. This club sampled Championship football two years ago and we have learned lessons from that. "We are trying to do the right things by raising the standards and pushing this club forward all the time." Adkins signed midfielders Michael O'Connor from Crewe and Josh Wright from Charlton earlier this week and expects to complete the signing of York striker Adam Boyes this weekend.
