Khan agrees Maidana fight
Amir Khan faces the biggest test of his career when he takes on Marcos Maidana later this year. The WBA light-welterweight champion will make the third defence of his title against the big hitting Argentinean on December 11. Khan hasn't fought since stopping Paulie Malignaggi in New York in May after seeing potential clashes with lightweights, Michael Katsidis and John Murray, fall through. The bout with Maidana will be is his latest step towards proving himself the finest welterweight in the world and leads to a potential super clash with either Timothy Bradley or Devon Alexander. He said: It's two explosive styles meeting up. It's the explosive puncher against the quick and explosive boxer. They say Maidana has a style to beat a boxer, so let's see how good he is. Maidana wants to stop me from having my legacy, but that is not going to happen. But let him try. Should Khan successfully defend his title to Maidana then he is set to fight the winner of Bradley and Alexander, who go head-to-head in January. Maidana, ranked No4 in the world, has lost only one of his 30 professional fights, winning 27 by knockout. But that one defeat came at the hands of Andriy Kotelnik the man Khan beat in resounding fashion to win his first world title last year. Khan announced the fight via his Twitter page, saying: All the legality work for the next fight has been done. The fight has been signed by both parties. He had previously accused the Argentine of holding out for too much money, but now everything is in place for an expected showdown in Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Hotel.
