McCulloch not getting carried away

Lee McCulloch admits there is a long way to go before Rangers can say they have proved their doubters wrong in the Champions League. The Scottish champions headed into this campaign desperate to make amends for a poor showing in the competition last year which saw them finish bottom of their group without a single win. They made a decent start this time around by holding Manchester United to a goalless draw at Old Trafford in a match which, on paper, represented their toughest test in a section which also includes Valencia and Bursaspor. The result may have restored some pride for Scottish football in the wake of disappointment for the rest of the SPL clubs in Europe this season, yet McCulloch warned: "I think if you are going to prove people wrong you need to wait until the end of the campaign." The former Wigan man continued: We've certainly had a good start and hopefully we can build on the point. "Last year it was the home games that we struggled in a little bit and I think the home games are going to be vital. "The home form is going to be important but we've got the team spirit and the game-plan to be hard to beat, it's just about opening up and beating teams on home soil. I'm sure with the backing of the fans we will hopefully get the right results. "We are going to be confident that we are going to do better than we did last year. But it's going to be tough. "It is early days, it's only one game and we have a few tough games to go."
