Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed that West Brom are in talks with Jonathan Greening over a new deal.
The Baggies boss hopes to fend off approaches made by Premier League clubs by offering the in-demand midfielder an extension to
his current contract which is set to expire next summer.
Both Fulham and Wolves have expressed an interest in signing Greening after a string of impressive performances last season.
Bolton boss Gary Megson earlier ruled out a possible move for the 30-year-old, saying the club have not been involved in the race for his signature.
However, with two top-flight clubs still in the chase, Di Matteo is keen on tying up a revised deal in the not-too-distant future.
He said: "Yes, he's been offered a new deal. Hopefully he will sign it."
