Van der Vaart loving life at Spurs

Tottenham new boy Rafael van der Vaart insists he is already enjoying English football after moving to White Hart Lane on deadline day. Spurs snapped up the Dutchman from Real Madrid in a surprise move and he made his debut against West Brom at the weekend.Van der Vaart later declared that he was satisfied with his performance, having been given the opportunity to play an advanced midfield role supporting lone striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. He admits it will take more time to get completely used to the fast pace of the game, but he is looking forward to the challenge."It's hard in the Premier League. The speed of the game makes it difficult but I love it," Van der Vaart said in the Daily Mirror."It's easy to settle in when it is such a good team, and drifting behind the striker is where I like to play."Van der Vaart is also relishing the prospect of playing in the Champions League, with Tottenham's group stage campaign getting underway against Werder Bremen on Tuesday. The 27-year-old is familiar with the Bundesliga side after spending three years with Hamburg and knows their strengths and weaknesses. He explained: "Werder are a team I know very well. They are strong going forward but defensively they have problems."Spurs manager Harry Redknapp praised Van der Vaart after the game with West Brom and believes he can flourish as the creative playmaker in a 4-5-1 formation."That position suits him. We saw enough to see his quality - he's a proper player," said Redknapp.
