Brighton boss Gus Poyet has admitted he missed out on his number one defensive target during the transfer window.
Poyet is still targeting cover at the back, with back-up for left-sided duo Gordon Greer and Marcos Painter thought to be a priority.
However the former Chelsea player is frustrated that he must begin the process again after failing to land the unnamed player.
He told the Argus: "The problem is we couldn't get the one I wanted.
"We are not going to get a body in for the sake of it.
"The target I had in mind we couldn't get so now we need to start from zero again."
