Reds Make Masters Semis

Final place denied by pens Barnsley came within penalty kicks of making the Grand Masters Final for the first time. The reigning Yorkshire Masters had moved into a first ever semi-final by defeating QPR on penalties after a 3-3 draw, but after a 2-2 stalemate with Birmingham, Bruce Dyer missed the crucial spot-kick. It is however, Barnsley’s best finish at a Masters. Last year they made their debut in the Grand Finals but were thumped 8-3 by Bolton in the Semis. Birmingham would eventually win this year by defeating Tranmere 4-2 on penalties, after a 3-3 draw.
