West Brom set to bag Irvine after Preston accept £1m pay-off

Alan Irvine is expected to be named the new manager of West Brom today after the Midlands club agreed to pay Preston £1m in compensation last night. Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace wanted Irvine to takeover at the Hawthorns after the Scot took Preston to the Championship play-offs last season, reports The Daily Mirror Peace is determined to get West Brom back to the Barclays Premier League at the first attempt after relegation last season. Irvine is desperate to takeover from Tony Mowbray and wants to take some of his backroom staff with him.
