Halilhodzic claims Pompey talks

Ivory Coast coach Vahid Halilhodzic has claimed he is in talks with Portsmouth over their managerial vacancy. The experienced former Yugoslavia boss insists he is eager to take on the challenge of working in the Premier League. Pompey are currently in the process of a change of ownership with Middle East businessman Sulaiman Al-Fahim expected to take control at Fratton Park and are currently without a manager. Paul Hart was elevated from his role as youth coach to take charge of first-team affairs following Tony Adams' brief and ill-fated reign, but his deal only ran until the end of the season. Several candidates, including Sven-Goran Eriksson, have been linked with the South Coast club who finished 14th last season, seven points above the relegation places. Halilhodzic, who has managed Raja Casablanca, Lille, Rennes, Paris Saint Germain and Trabzonspor, is the first to confirm his interest in the role. The Bosnian said: "Anything could happen. "It is true that I am in the negotiations but I can't say more than that at the moment. "I want to work in the English Premier League."
