Big plans: Former Ger Lovenkrands is hoping to earn a long-term deal at Newcastle
Impressed: Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear
Lovenkrands, who was released by Schalke earlier this season, today signed until May and is hoping to earn a deal beyond the end of the season.
The Denmark international, who turns 29 next week, said: 'I’ve got a great opportunity to impress and hopefully win a contract beyond then.'
Pacey Lovenkrands, who has 21 caps, scored 54 goals in a six year spell at Ibrox but his move to Schalke on a free transfer has not worked out and he was released by the German club last year.
He signs on a free transfer and will go into the Newcastle squad travelling to Manchester City next week.
